Question by Jamie: How can I remove candle wax from fabric?
I had a small table cloth which was mostly cotton, and it was a red color. The candle that was sitting on it, melted over and left a pretty good spot on the fabric.

Put several paper towels under it AND on top of it, and run a fairly hot iron over the top….the wax will melt and “wick out” into the paper towel….
You may have to do this a number of times to get it all…

Question by makeupclueless: How to remove Pledge stains on bamboo table?
I used Pledge on my bamboo table and now have discolored stains all over the table. It’s a brand new table and I’m really bummed about it. Any advice on how to get rid of the stains?
Thanks for the answers so far. The thing is that bamboo is a type of GRASS, not a wood, so I don’t believe that cleaners designed for wood actually work on bamboo. Thanks again.

Not knowing anything about bamboo in particular, I do know that lemon juice is a good cleaner for wood. I think I would contact the store where you purchased the bamboo table or the manufacturer and see if you can get information there. Good Luck!

Question by Heather: How can I remove rust from a wooden table?
Hi, help! I just rust stained a really nice wood table. It is finished, but it’s not a shiny finish, it seems like the kind that just stains the wood, not necessarily that coats it also. Obviously I’m not up on all the technical terms of wood finishing, but I’m really hoping someone can halp. Thanks!

If there is rust on the table the best method for removing it is to sand it until the rust is gone. Since you have already stained the table you will be doing a bit more sanding than if you hadn’t already stained it. You can purchase a stain that has a gloss to it at your nearby home improvement store. Just tell them you want a stain that also has a finish to it.

Question by blondybefore: How to remove oil stains from linen cotton blend skirt — HELP!?
I just bought this cute skirt from Walmart…
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5366561
Then, one of the first times I wore it, somehow, I’m not even sure how, I got some kind of oil on the front of it…I think it was an Italian salad dressing because that was the only oil I can remember being exposed to that day. Does anyone know of a way to get the oil completely out? I tried rubbing it out with a damp cloth but it seemed to wear the fabric down. I was going to just go and buy anther one, but they are out of stock online! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Serious answers only please!

Try a mechanic’s hand cleaner like Goop or GoJo.
They are made for grease & oil .
Rub it in & throw it in the wash.
Saved a tablecloth for my wife with it.

Question by Stunner: How to remove hairline scratches and a circular burn mark off a mahogany coffee table?
I have had this coffee table for several years and it matches the other furniture in the room so don’t want to just get a new one due to the condition of it, would mean replacing all the matching furniture!!
Left a dish on the table some years ago and it had floating candles inside the dish, the water heated up and left an imprint of the dish on the table (this seems to be under the varnished layer) also it’s covered in hair line scratches, and recently some deeper ones have been added by the kids.
Anyone recommend a fix??

Is your table ‘varnished’? If so a suitable solution would be to use Wax and Wire Wool. Buy some triple 0 wire wool (the finest grade) and some solid furniture wax. Wipe the wool over the wax and gentlly rub with the grain. You will soon find the best pressure to use. Continue with thw wax and wool, changing the wool pad if it becomes clogged and is not cutting the varnish. Do not be afraid that the wool will badly mark your table, it wont! It may take a while and some effort but you will wind up with a restored table top with a wonderfully smooth finish that nicely reflects the light
