My parents gave me an outdoor pool table that has 2 scratches in the vinyl that covers the top. I’ve asked around MANY different places where I live and no one seems to do this kind of work. I guess I have to do it myself. I’m fine with that, but I have no idea where to start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer by eskie lover The liquid damaged the felt on your pool table. Do not use liquid cleaning products to remove it because it too will leave a water mark. Your best bet is to fess up because at 13 you probably can’t get to the store by yourself to get the products you need to do the job. Most pool tables come with cleaning instructions for caring properly for the felt which is usually over slate. Mine suggested the use of dry carpet cleaning granules or a product available through most pool table distributors to remove water rings and stains. The Capture and Resolve dry carpet cleaning granules work well, don’t leave a water mark and remove most stains from the pool table felt. I usually suggest that clients spray the felt surface of their pool tables with scotchguard after they are out of warranty to protect the felt from liquid spills. This bubbles the liquid up so that it can be blotted away with a paper towel and not saturate into the felt. Your dad may have purchased a stain warranty, however, and since it is new, you really don’t want to do anything improperly to void that warranty if he has one.

So the cat murdered the pool table’s pockets. After I get them replaced, I’m wanting a way to protect the next set from the same horrible fate. My options are to de-claw the cat, get rid of the cat, or find a way to cover the new pockets. I really don’t want to resort to the first two options.
Does anyone know of a site to buy pool table pocket covers? I’ve looked online, and had no luck. Maybe one of you search wizards can help me out. We have a pool table cover, a very nice one at that, but it doesn’t cover the pockets….

Answer by Dan There is a spray called NO CAT or similar that CATS DO not LIKE, sPRAY THE POCKETS LIBERALLY and a small rag to leave in the pocket bottom.
Available in most pet stores.

Beer soaked through the cover playing beer pong. Is there a special technique or a cleaning product that will get it out without having to resurface it?

Answer by Bronzo First Mix one teaspoon of a liquid detergent (a mild non bleaching detergent) with a cup of lukewarm water then Blot the spot. DO NOT RUB! Then Mix one third cup of white household vinegar with two thirds cup of water, Blot again, then finally Sponge with clean water and
Blot again!
It is important not to rub the stain, this will cause bobbling on the pool table and stretch the fabric. Not to mention rubbing the stain in more, And read carefully that your liquid detergent does NOT have bleach in it.
Also another method would be to sprinkle powdered washing detergent on it and work at it with a toothbrush…the only thing with this is that it takes alot of rinsing and may leave a residue if not rinsed enough!

I am looking to spend 1500-1700$ on a table, Is the 1” slate worth the extra 0 (3/4” is the other option). The Brunswick Stain-Resistant Cloth is also a 0 option, Is it worth it? Any and all info would be very helpfull to me, Im new at this.

Answer by forjj usually, slate top pool tables need to be taken apart to move. a professional installer would take it apart, and then set it back up, level in the new location. the slate top of most tables is usually 2 or 3 pieces, which have to be put together properly…

Answer by DeeDub I saw a Hollywood party on TV (on Oprah?) where the party was over a pool on just the type of system you are talking about. I didn’t find the exact thing. There is a reference book called Sweets used by designers and architects published by McGraw Hill. It has volumes and volumes of categorized products. The online version is cumbersome, so I didn’t attempt it, but check it at your library. Another is the Thomas Register, which is more of a source reference for business and manufacturers.
I wonder if the sytem might be available from companies who specialize in stages. The only ones I saw of this nature were intended to sit on a floor and would not span any distance (though some of the lighting ideas could be cool for your application).
Still, in my search I did find one product that might work. The web page didn’t talk about maximum spans or the like. For what its worth, here it is:

I spilled orange juice on my pool table and I took a towel and pressed it hard against the spot over and over, and it’s dry but the spot is huge. Will it dry completely and go away? My pool table cloth is red if that even makes a difference. Please help. This was a gift.

Answer by R.S. I would wait and see if it dries all the way, its probably still a little wet under the felt. Wait a day or 2 max, and if the spot is still there, just pour orange juice on the whole table and try to distribute evenly, it won’t fix the problem but you might not see the spot anymore, make sure you use the same brand.

Found a free pool table, 1″ single piece of slate in a 3rd floor room. I am pretty knowledgeable with the dismantling and refinishing, but how would you get it down three flights? I hear that piece of stone could be up to 1000lbs. The table is free and I am not willing to spend more than 0 which pretty much covers new felt and bumpers that I will assemble. It had to get up there somehow, but getting it down seems like quite a challenge. Any ideas are welcome.
