I love the shabby chic style, and am going for a white dining room table. It’s like any other table, it’s natural not pressed wood, and has a glossy finish. I am having my daughter a birthday party in less than 2 weeks. I need some decorating ideas. We are having her party in a church fellowship hall. There will be around 30 people there (most being grandparents and great-grandparents). I need help with some decorating ideas!
Her cake will be either white background or light purple background. It may have polka dots on it or it may not. I also want ladybugs on it. Black and red ladybugs. Also, I want to get lavender table cloths and plates and napkins with red and black balloons. Should I do the opposite and get red and black plates and napkins, with lavendar balloons? These are the 3 colors I am sticking with. I think. Maybe I should change it to just red/black/and green? I am having a really tough time picturing the black/red scheme with the lavender. I absolutely love the cake, but you will probably want to go with a white background if your main theme is ladybugs. I think the cake would look adorable with red and black polka dots on it. Make it easy on yourself, girl! If you know you want to do ladybugs, just stick with red and black and don’t try to fit in the lavender. If you do decide you really want to use lavender, then I would scrap the idea of using red and black decorations and just stick with spring colors like lavender, yellow, light green etc. The ladybugs would just be an accent on the cake, and maybe you could make some ladybug favors or little decorations to go on the table. That cake and dress are absolutely precious, though. It’s photos like those that make me wish I could have at least ONE girl!

My head is about ready to explode. I am to be married on the tenth of January in our Church’s gym. We chose it because it is completely free, plus we will have the use of the kitchen, table cloths and nursery. The only problem is, we are on extremely tight budget. So far I have the centerpieces taken care of and we have bought tons of clear xmas lights to use for decoration. Our colors are pretty easy…several different shades of blue and then white and silver. Sort of going by a wintery theme. I have an aisle runner…other than that…NOTHING! I have to create some kind of arch that we can stand under as well. PLEASE HELP! I am lost! I just want it to be really nice.

We had a lattice garden arch. I believe we borrowed it from a neighbor. I suppose the same item can be rented from a rental service, the kind that rents tables, chairs, tents, etc. See the link below.
Or you can use two small tables covered with pretty cloth and flowers on either side of the “alter”.

I’m getting married next October (2010) with an 8k budget for 100 people. I want to be able to spend 500 on my dress. Problem is, I don’t know what a good price is on a ceremony/reception venue. A lot of places ask 50-00 just to rent the place, and it doesn’t include anything else. For example, one place asks ,290 for the room, ceremony, table linen and chair covers, setup, dinner, champagne, and service and tax. That only leaves about ,700 for my dress, his tux, flowers, the centerpieces, unity candles, cakes, photography, a DJ, and anything else we may need. We want it in the evening and the day is on a Saturday but I’m not sure we will make it despite SO many people saying it is possible. I have looked at more than ten venues and come up with the same problem! I don’t know what things cost and it’s hard to know where to spend and where to be frugal.

For around 75 people. I was thinking McNay because its inexpensive, but the limit is 50 people and my family alone is 50! I’m thinking about doing an evening wedding and dessert reception, got the idea at first when looking at a rooftop terrace… I thought evening, stars, fancy desserts, wedding cake, champagne… Found out that’s booked solid. I don’t need caterers, tables, linens, anything! Just a place! Does anyone know of an out of the way park, garden, rooftop? My only requirement is that its PRETTY! And cheap….. (or free!)

Best thing to do is go to your towns city hall (on the internet or in person) and ask them about it all. I mean I dont know how it goes where you live but here we just have to talk to the city hall memebers about using the park….for free lol!
