I have red napkins that are the same style as the white tablecloths i am planning on using for xmas. I was just wondering if that would be ok. It looks really pretty I just didn’t know if it was “correct”. Thanks!

Ironing dozens of napkins is probably the last thing you want to deal with when you’re planning a dinner party. Done properly, though, this task doesn’t need to be stressful. Question by ~2Sxy4u!~: If serving finger food, do you still use the ‘fancy’ napkins?
For the bride and grooms table it will set up with all of the ‘nice’ linen napkins, crystal glasses etc……
The reception is buffet style with hors’dervs, meatballs, etc…..
so should there be linen napkins on the tables or nice paper ones?

Question by Sstar02: Will paper napkins look cheap with real dinnerware?
I’m getting married on December 26th and our colors are red and white. We’re renting dinner plates, glasses, and flatware.. but we’re on a tight budget and can’t afford to have the real linens, also.
I planned on having the plates (which will be white with a silver trim) and glasses set out already on each table, then on each plate having a red paper napkin. On top of the napkin, will be a candy cane with a red ribbon tied around it attaching a tag with the name on it.
Candy cane idea here: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.cloudnineweddingstore.com/images/christmas%2520setting.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.cloudnineweddingstore.com/webcontent15.htm&usg=__idSz2fKL745w9q2eqCO41wNkZ3g=&h=1152&w=864&sz=147&hl=en&start=15&um=1&tbnid=BxBwT87my3tzwM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=112&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchristmas%2Bwedding%2Bcandy%2Bcane%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
But I’m afraid the paper napkins may look cheap, what do you think?
Also, what color table cloths should I use? Red or white?
I checked with the rental company on the linens, we just simply can’t afford them. No way, no how

Answer by Miss M If you are already making the investment in the dinnerware, don’t take away from it but using paper napkins. You can usually rent the napkins from the same place you are getting the table linen from.
I would go with the white table cloths, but you definitely want to have some additional color on the table to break up the white. Good luck!

Question by : Why do some families make guests use the same dirty cloth napkins the used on the table the day before?
I spent a few days over at a friends house with her family. The first day we had dinner they gave a clean cloth napkin rolled into a ring. I used it and next day I found the very same napkin (dirty from the day before) rolled into its ring on my place at the table. My friend and her parents had their own used and dirty napkins too. Why don’t they wash them or give guests clean cloth napkins instead? I was of course embarrassed to ask but I found it a little disgusting…yet I had no option but to re-use my napking…
It is a custom in some countries to re-use dirty cloth napkings regardless of how dirty they are? What is the rationale behind this custom?
Thanks!

Answer by Goddess of Laundry Not a custom anywhere specifically, that I know of. But obviously a custom at their house. I can see using it again if it is still clean…perhaps…but dirty???
