How do I work the reception venue’s colors, centerpieces, tablecloths?

Question by lesama1216: How do I work the reception venue’s colors, centerpieces, tablecloths?
As we are paying for our wedding ourselves, we are having the reception catered at a local restaurant. The restaurant specializes in steaks and bbq (it’s upscale bbq lol). We want to create a relaxed atmosphere…but tasteful and elegant. The reception room is very nice but will need some ideas…their only table cloths are black or red (not our wedding colors), the carpet is multi-colored burgundy, blues…all sorts. Table overlays perhaps?…but will have to go over the black…or rent table cloths and overlays…but may clash with carpet. I’m not a fan of balloons or red and black weddings…but we have to work with the venue we have. =\ The wedding will take place in August…centerpiece ideas anyone? i’m fond of white or cream flowers in clear vases with candles around. Not sure what’s worth the money…should I work with the black table cloths…or rent some? or just go with an entirely new color palette for the reception versus the wedding? feel free to chime in, post links…etc. Thanks!

Gosh, stop over complicating it. No one is going to remember table cloths they will remember you and you fiance getting married. I don’t know why people worry about little things like that? Your marrying someone you love be concerned with them instead of the table cloths. All people are going to do is wipe their face on them? Why put that much effort into a cleaning utensil? That is like worrying about painting pictures or picking colors of toilet paper.

You may be limited to the color of tablecloths so try black with copper accents. You can do copper-like pots (with flowers or something) as your centerpieces.

You wont get the same feel as if you were in person…it’s almost the same as buying shoes or clothes online. Things aren’ always as they appear. I suggest you march to a few fabric stores…and get swatches….

What colors should I use for my dining room?

Question by ♥ Honest Heart ♥: What colors should I use for my dining room?
I am looking for seat cushions, a table cloth, napkins, and place mats for my dining room. My walls are eggshell, and I rent so I can’t change them. I have a very modern looking black dinette set. The centerpiece on the table is a silver metal vase with white cherry blossoms. On the wall behind the table is a wall hanging of a metal tree with mirrored leaves. My dishes are square and kind of a stony grey/blue color with cherry blossoms on them and I have silver metal chopsticks as utensils.

What color table cloth, cushions, etc should I buy? I thought about black, but I don’t want too much black. White is too stark. Any suggestions?

What would you think of these colors for a wedding?

Question by Erica – So many bunny huggers, so little time!: What would you think of these colors for a wedding?
My husband and I never really got to do a full wedding (we were married in a court house), but I want to have a real ceremony either this summer or next. Nothing big and fancy, just a little something so that the WHOLE family can be there, and my grandpa can actually walk me down the isle as I’ve always wanted. For my colors, aside from the white of my dress, I wanted to use green, blue and purple. Not like screaming colors, but the more darker, bolder forms, of these colors. What do you think of that color combination? And any flower suggestions would be greatly appreciated! For the record, I don’t really want to use roses, as I think those are a bit played out, and I hate carnations, lol. For center pieces, I want to do glass candle holders, with a mix of blue green and purple stones, with a white candle in the center, any suggestions on that would be great, too! I also want to alternate table cloth covers, in those three colors, with a white runner down the middle. I’m also not sure if I should go with white white, or like an off white or off ivory color? Thanks for reading!!
Here’s the colors we’re looking at, or a close example of them, lol

That’s the only one I could find for the green, lol, sorry!

As for the white, I’m definitely leaning more towards an ivory or cream color, probably more towards Ivory. Thanks for the feedback, everybody!
Thanks everybody! I’m still on the fence about the white thing, lol

To the last poster, every color, eh? Sorry I missed it, that sounds rather interesting!!

And thanks, Sam, you would know! Lol…. Yeah, that one took me a while….. Shut up! Lol

            Hi Erica,

Your colors are definitely unique. I love that you are thinking of doing centerpieces besides flowers! As far as your bouquet, I recommend doing purple flowers and greens, maybe a blue ribbon so you utilize your whole palette.

Traditionally, off-white/ivory is used for those already married. Tradition aside, I think it works better aesthetically with the other colors you have chosen.

I like the chocolate, lavender and cream choice! So pretty! There should be a lot of flowers that come in lavender. Ask a florist for ideas. Table linens could be a brown base with a lavender overlay.

red, tan, and black are very classy. not at all candy-cane-ish.

I think ivory will also look classy with the red and black.

                  good luck! and congratulations!!!

I personally dont like gold, at all! So i would go with silver.

It all sounds a bit to matchy matchy to me. I would only match the girls dresses with the guys ties.

                    Good luck!!
