I am planning to remodel my parents’ kitchen with limited. The cabinets are old and muddy. But the tiles and the table top are still in good condition (pink in color). So with the liminted budget, I am intending to only change the cabinets but maintain the tiles and table top. Any advise?

Ok if you choose to buy new cabinets I’d go with a cream or off white color. However If the cabinets they have are in good condition besides being old and muddy. ( Meaning the doors and cabinets are solid) You could just hire a painter to paint them and hire a tile refinishing service to re glaze the tile in any color you want and probably still not spend what you would spend to buy new cabinets.
If you’d rather not have painted cabinets and the cabinets are in good condition besides being old look into have the cabinets refaced with new doors and drawer fronts and matching side panel coverings for about half the cost of new cabinets and then hire the tile re-glazers. You’ll end up with a much nicer kitchen that will look alot more updated.

what color of cloth distract you the most?? light green or maybe dark green is the original color of cloth but there is other colors. I say red cloth distract my game the most because the light reflects so much that I almost cannot see the 3 ball or even the 5 and 7… red cloth also feels so bright to me.
Light brown is bright but the brightness seems to make the balls so darker that I can see it more than the green table.

With red, shirts or blouses of yellow, orange, blue, white, grey or black can look good. Shirts can be dressy or casual. Red isn’t a formal color, so try polo shirts with red linen pants.

My first Yahoo answers question. I have no idea what my wedding colors should be. I don’t have any sort of vision when it comes to what my color scheme will be and I have to say I dont have a very good eye for what coordinates.
The wedding will be outdoors late afternoon in June in an arboretum, lots of green trees and grass, pastel spring wildfowers, wisteria especially, light grey , and moss covered stone columns and structues. The ballroom at this location is all white walls ceiling white crown moldings, hardwood floor and deep burgandy drapes. When the reception is in full swing it will be evening.
I m not trying to match the ball room, but the drapes cant be changed, I like blue but began to visualize the white room, deep red drapes, and blue bridesmaids and table cloths and a flag jumped to mind. I am afraid deep colors will look out of place in the spring mix of the arboretum. Can anyone think of a color palette that will look just as nice in these two extremes.

The colors show baddly in the pictures but trust me the drapes are burgandy. And Im not a fan of the white chair gauzy set up from this wedding.

mynxr I didnt think about lighting. When I look at the pics I realize the drapes just appear dark, not any distinguishable color.

I think it will be fine as long as you choose colorful centerpieces! Pretty color combo btw..
We are doing big fish bowls in the center with chinese fighting fish that match our color scheme and rocks to match with submersible lights to light them up. We may do some rose petals on the table as well.. not sure about any other decorations yet, I may post my own question on that! lol

You may be limited to the color of tablecloths so try black with copper accents. You can do copper-like pots (with flowers or something) as your centerpieces.

I just purchased a new dining set. The wood is an espresso dark brown. Chairs have ivory with espresso brown pattern (pretty busy pattern). It’s beautiful. However, now I don’t know what color tablecloth I should order to have on hand for dinner parties.
I got a palette of color samples. I originally thought to go with the same “espresso” brown with the same color napkins, so that my simple ivory color china would “pop”. That way, nothing would be noticeable in the room aside from the china and crystal. However, my mom thinks I should go with ivory. If I do this, the ivory china, will kind of melt into the tablecloth.
What is the rule on this? Or, what are suggestions for matching table linens to china?

I really think your Mom is right . This would look very elegant and simple. Beautiful. But you could also go with the Espresso napkins. The china and chrystal would look great.

Question by Shannon: Need advice on area rug/curtain color for apartment living/dining area??
We are moving into a new apartment soon and I am shopping for some new things for it. I have already purchased slipcovers in a flax color for my couch and chair and we are going to get a black coffee table and black end tables and black tv stand (etc, pretty much everything else black, thank goodness I was able to compromise a different couch color!!!) Anyway, the existing carpeting is like a grayish blue color and the walls are white. I told him no more black but now I have no idea what to do about the area rug and curtains.
I was also wondering if it is a good idea to have a matching area rug for the dining area? (The dining table is stained dark, but we got it used and until it can be refinished I am going to use a tablecloth to cover it, I have not purchased a table cloth yet. We were thinking of reupholstering the dining chair seats to match our slipcovers.

I would try to get a rug that incorporates the blue, black and flax color. Something modern comes to mind….like this:
