Question by Irish_Girl860509: How do I get wax off of a wood coffee table?
I have a coffee table made with wood veneer and one day I was burning candles on it and I accidentally kicked the table and wax splattered all over it! I’ve scratched some of it off, but I’m afraid I’ll scratch off the finish! Is there an easier way to get it off? I’d really appreciate any advice!! Thanks in advance!

get a brown paper bag, place on top of the wax, no hold a low heat iron (iron set on low heat that is) over the bag (not touching – just placed right over it – this will draw up the wax into the bag….may take a few times depending on the wax….then rub on some pledge or better murphy’s oil (murphy’s is the best) – voila!

I love all your ideas except for the orange curtains. ICK! Green carpet, orange curtains…. no go for my opinion on that one… I think Lavender would look way better especially with the brown…. brown, green, and lavender look amazing together!!! You can also print pics off Google (on photo paper) and frame them, like a Parisian Cafe, or an Espresso Stop in Rome, Maybe the corner Starbucks in London off Gloucester Rd., the Cafe Ole in Spain…Go for classic coffees from certain countries too! that would be so cute!!!
Try using this too, for when you paint and pick your brown color:

It’s a virtual room designer so you;ll get an idea of what color browns you like and what colors browns you don’t like. Also, you can match the carpet too.. Its fun try it out!

Question by Mitch: Trying to put photos on a coffee table, help?
I thought that I could use plexiglass to cover the pictures to you could put stuff on top and it would be protected. But I’m not really sure how I can get the pictures to stick to the table without the pictures absorbing any glue. Also I’m not sure how to get the plexiglass to stick to the top. I was thinking of drilling holes on the side and putting a few screws along the side. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, thanks.

Question by foxyclearpetrol: How do I make an old surfboard into a coffee table?
I got a used fiberglass surf board and want to make it into a coffee table.
Fiberglass is pretty fragile, so if I drill a bunch of screws in it everything will probably just fall apart.
I also thought of just getting a glass top coffee table, take off the glass, and nail the surfboard to it.
Can any handy master give me step-by-step suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an interestin project
I would make some steel bands that go around the board then slide them along till theyre nestling real tight (maybe use some glue underneath) but heres the tricky part…..underneath the bands you should have welded 4 large steel nuts and these are were you screw in the legs…….you could weld the threaded bolt ends to the legs etc…….or before you slide the bands on, weld some legs to the underside of the band. kinda hard to explain in words but i cant be stuffed drawing it.

Question by Jake: How do I clean a silverfinish coffee table?
I just bought a really nice silverfinish coffee table from Lee Longlands. It’s wooden but it has some kind of metallic-looking coating of paint all over it. Thing is, I don’t have a clue how to clean it and I don’t want to damage the finish. Do I just clean it with a damp cloth, or polish, or what?
Thanks in advance.

Answer by Shan
I would use nothing more than a microfiber cloth and water. Microfiber cloths clean without chemicals.
I wouldn’t risk using any chemical on the coffee table…even plain vinegar could damage the silver.
Just clean with a damp microfiber and buff dry with a dry microfiber.
You can buy microfiber cloths just about anywhere these days…Walmart, Target, K-mart, Home Depot, even Dollar General.
Hope this helps.

Question by HONEST ANSWER: How to repair surface of a coffee table?
We have a gorgeous black coffee table that we love, however with time the finish on the top (in some areas) has begin to wear off. I didn’t want to make this a whole repainting project and was wondering what options I have to just cover the wear on it. It’s exposing a bit of the wood underneath. It looks like small scrathes, although there’s no deepth to the damage.
